LRF Takes Charge of LREC Project:
As of August 2007 the Liberian Renaissance Foundation of Switzerland has
taken over the day-to-day operations of the Liberia Renaissance School.
Generation Y and its Executive Director Dr. Dennis Harper will continue
to consult on the project. Further inquiries about the LREC should go

President Ellen Sirleaf Breaks LREC Ground on April 20
President Sirleaf spent two hours at the LREC site during the groundbreaking ceremony that included numerous ministers, the chief justice, ambassadors, ACS alumni, business leaders, citizens and children. President Sirleaf gave an eloquent speech about the importance of the education complex to the future of Liberia. The President stated, "One can think beyond the ordinary, think beyond the conventional, that one can start a process that produces changes in attitudes, in arrangements, in methods, in applications and that's what LREC is all about." She went on to say "We look forward to seeing right here on this spot, children in Liberia coming from this new vision with a new way of doing things, with new talents, new skills, new approaches, new contributions." Fund Raising
Over $1.1 million has been raised thus far. These funds purchased the beautiful 25 acres of land, paid for the onsite project directors. security fencing around the property and will pay for the first two classroom buildings. In addition, others have donated such items as furniture, books, software, computers, and cement.
